2 dead during Hostage Taking in Pagadian City
Stabbing
and hostage taking incident occurred at about 3:30 AM October 17, 2014 at Purok
Sili, Barangay Lumad, Pagadian City. The wife of the suspect (hostage taker)
was already dead when the Pagadian City Police responded to the incident. She
was identified as Martiniana Rellon, the wife of the suspect identified as Rene
Boy Rellon Sr. she was found approximately twenty (25) meters from their house.
The responding PNP team approached the house of the suspect who has locked
himself inside his house holding his youngest son identified as Ariel Rellon as
hostage. With the help of Barangay Captain Rogelio Diano and Barangay Officials,
they started with the negotiation. The suspect is mentally deranged and that
this is the second time that the suspect hostage his son, however. The
hostage-taking went smoothly by convincing the suspect to release his child and
surrender peacefully but it was perceived that he has no plan to surrender to
the responding PNP react team. Determine to use a reasonable force in order to
neutralize the suspect as he has no plans of surrendering to the authorities,
the PNP team worked on the plan to rescue the hostage victim. As the
negotiation went on for almost two hours, the suspect elder son identified as
Rene Boy Rellon Jr. stepped in to offer bread to his brother Ariel who was held
hostage. Rene Boy Jr. quickly opened the door by inserting his arm through the
jalousie blades of the window and pulled the latch, wherein simultaneously the
react team already entered the house and was able to rescue the hostage. Police
Superintendent Glenn Macario Dulawan, Chief of Police, Pagadian City Police
Station commanded the suspect to surrender, however, he instead raised his bolo
and jumped towards the police officers who were about two (2) meters away and
attempted to hack the responding police officers. Before the suspect make
another step, the back-up react team member PO1 Willer Ontoy fired upon him
causing his death. The situation demanded the use of necessary force to
neutralize the suspect. recovered from
the incident are one (1) long bolo with 24 inches long including the handle,
two hunting knifes tucked on the waist of the suspect, one (1) with 12.5 inches
long including the handle with white cover and one (1) with 11 inches long
including the handle with black cover which believed to be the one used by the
suspect in stabbing his wife due to the bloodstains on it. Investigation
revealed that the incident started when the suspect and the victim had a
quarrel and the suspect demanded that the lights at their living room be put
off. Their daughter identified as Rina Rellon was woke up by noise and saw her father
stabbing her mother. she helped her mother ran outside while her brother Remar
Rellon held their father and after that ran outside for safety. The youngest
son Ariel Rellon was left inside the house and was held as hostage. The WCPD of
the Pagadian Police coordinated with the DSWD to conduct debriefing to the
hostage-taking victims and the immediate members of the family. The cadaver of
the suspect is now lies at the residence of the victims.

Man Nabbed in Pagadian for Estafa
Operatives
of Pagadian City Police Station arrested Joe Lapinig Y Tamala, 51, at about
10:00 AM October 17, 2014 in Barangay Lenienza, Pagadian City for the crime of
estafa thru falsification of commercial document issued by Hon Miriam Orquieza-Angcot,
presiding judge of MTC, 19th Judicial Region, Branch 01, Ozamis City docketed
under criminal case number 9211 dated 30th September 2014 with bail
recommended for his temporary liberty amounted to (P 12,000). He is now
temporarily detained at the said police station awaiting court disposition.
CAMPAIGN AGAINST LOOSE FIREARMS
On or about 2:10
in the afternoon of October 18, 2014, barangay chairman Willy Lumalang Gumarag
of Barangay Tulan, Mahayag, Zamboanga Del Sur personally appeared to Mahayag
Police Station and turned-over one (1) homemade caliber .38 revolver with four
(4) live ammunitions. Accordingly, said firearm was confiscated by him from the
possession and control of one (1) Joel Gomola alias “Boging”, yesterday at
about 4:00 in the afternoon of October 17, 2014 at the aforesaid barangay
during the celebration of “Araw Ng Barangay Tulan”. He added that after the
confiscation of the said revolver, Joel Gomola fled away. Mahayag Police
Station is now preparing appropriate case against the suspect.
ARRESTED WANTED PERSON
On or about 9:00 in the evening of October 18,
2014, joint PNP elements of Guipos Police Station led by PSInsp Usman Julwadi
Edding and PNP elements of Bagumbayan Municipal Police Station, Sultan Kudarat
PPO, PRO 12 led by PCInsp Celestino Tenesio Daniel Jr. officer in-charge
conducted manhunt operation at Barangay Katipunan, Guipos, Zamboanga Del Sur
and successfully arrested one (1) Randy Maang Y Divinagracia, temporary residing at said place.
Subject person was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest for the crime of
Murder under criminal case no. 1251,
issued by Hon. Judge Renato B. Gleyo of 12th Judicial Region, Regional Trial
Court, Branch 19, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, dated June 19, 2014 with no bail
recommended. At about 8:00 in the morning October 19, 2014, subject arrested
wanted person was properly turned-over to Bagumbayan Police Station and was
duly received by PCInsp Celestino Tenesio Daniel Jr, OIC in good physical and
mental condition.
FIRE INCIDENT
On or about 6:30
in the evening of October 18, 2014, a concerned citizen called thru telephone
call to Molave Police Station informing that fire incident happened at Barangay
Blancia, Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur particularly at the residential house of Mr.
Cresencio Cantere. Alert/roving team of same police station led by PInsp Edwin
Impil Lumingo proceeded to the fire scene to assist the crowd and to manage the
traffic flow. Fire was completely extinguished after more or less 20 minutes of
constant fire suppression conducted by the Molave Fire Station. Initial investigation
revealed that the origin of fire was at the rented house occupied by Natividad
Asoy and quickly spread to the adjacent house of Mr. Cresencio Cantere causing
the whole house swallowed by fire. Cause of fire incident still subject for further
investigation. No injured/casualties reported. Estimated damaged is more or
less One Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php100,000.00).
