PRESS RELEASE

Shooting Incident: 

A shooting incident transpired at Bagong Silang, Barangay Poblacion, Pitogo, Zamboanga del Sur at about 7:10 in the evening of February 16, 2016, wherein victim identified as Elvis Banggoy Ordaniza, 49 years old, married, media practitioner and a volunteer reporter of Power 99 FM in Pagadian City was shot by unidentified suspect. The PNP elements of Pitogo Municipal Police Station led by PI ORLYN P LEYTE, OIC immediately responded to the crime scene and brought the victim to Pitogo Rural Health Center for medical treatment and was later referred to Pagadian City for further medication but unfortunately, the victim declared dead on arrival. Investigation conducted by Pitogo MPS disclosed that while the victim was cooking food for dinner and while picking up coconut shells to be used as firewood outside their house when suddenly shot by the unidentified suspects with the used of caliber .45 pistol based on the recovered two (2) empty shells at the crime scene. Victim sustained two (2) Gunshot wound on his chest while suspect fled towards unknown direction after the incident. The PNP elements of Pitogo MPS is conducted follow-up investigation to identify the perpetrators and to determine the real motive of the incident. Wanted Person: 

The PNP elements Mabuhay Municipal Police Station, Zamboanga Sibugay Province, RID PRO9, PIB ZSBPPO, Olutanga MPS and  Dumalinao MPS conducted joint manhunt operation against wanted person at Public Market, Barangay Poblacion, Mabuhay Zamboanga Sibugay Province at about 8:00 in the evening of February 16,  2016, that resulted in the arrest of Jay Abapo Lumacad alias “Bobong”, 43 years old, married, paintor and a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Mabuhay, Zamboanga Sibugay by virtue of Warrant of Arrest  under Criminal Case Number 2870-D for the crime of Robbery with Violence and Intimidation issued by Honorable ANECITO B. GALON Presiding Judge- 8th MCTC Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur with recommended Bail Bond amounting to one hundred thousand pesos (Php 100,000.00). Suspect is temporarily detained at Mabuhay MPS.

Search Warrant: 

The PNP elements of Kumalarang Municipal Police Statioin of Zamboanga Del Sur led by PI ALFON BUENBRAZO BELLOAN, OIC conducted search and seizure operation at the house of Boyet Lofranco located at Purok Alibangbang, Barangay Poblacion, Kumalarang, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 8:40 in the evening of February 16, 2016,  by virtue of Search Warrant Number 326 issued by Honorable Joel Gonzaga Vercide Presiding Judge of MTCC Branch 01, Pagadian City for violation of Sec 11, Article II of RA 9165. Member of the raiding team were able to recover six (6) small heat sealed transparent sachet believed to be shabu and four (4) aluminum foil which was placed inside to an empty container of a match stick at the bedroom of the suspect. Suspect was able to escape after sensing the presence of the raiding team. Confiscated items were brought to Kumalarang MPS for proper disposition.

Wanted Person: 

The PNP Personnel of Tabina Municipal Police Station of  Zamboanga Del Sur led by SPO4 Gonzales, R. M, MESPO under direct Supervision of PI JUNAR C YAP, Officer in Charge successfully arrested a certain Francisco Tacder, 74 years old, farmer and Marciano Tacder, 51 years old, farmer both residents of Barangay Capisan, Tabina, Zamboanga Del Sur at about 8: 00 in the morning of February 17, 2016. The said Wanted Persons were arrested for the crime of THEFT under Criminal Case number 16-2220-T issued by Honorable JOEL G. Vercide, Presiding Judge of 7th MCTC Dimataling, Zamboanga Del Sur with recommended bail bond amounting to ten thousand pesos (Php10,000.00). Suspects were temporarily detained at Tabina MPS.

1st Progress Report re-Shooting Incident of Elvis Ordaniza: 

The Pitogo Municipal Police Station created Special Investigation Task Group (SITG “ORDANIZA”) to conduct cohesive investigation relative to the subject shooting incident pursuant to Special Order number 025 dated 17 February 2016 and immediately convened at about 8:00 in the morning. Special members includes two (2) Media members, Mr. Jong Cadion of CNN Philippines Correspondent and Mr. Jezreel Himang of Power 99 FM. Post Mortem result conducted by Dr. Cristina Jose Chavez, Attending Physician confirmed that victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body as follows: 2 to 3 cm left lateral nipple; Right axilla and Scapular area. During the SITG Conference, the following information was gathered according to Mr. Jezreel Himang, a colleague of the victim at Power 99 FM victim is a former rebel until year 2000; he is a KBP accredited member; he is also a field volunteer reporter of DXWO Power 99 FM and involved in radio commentaries on criticizing issues and persons being reported to him during his block time. Information from PINSP ORLYN LEYTE, COP Pitogo MPS; he is always tapped as media representative and witness during the inventory of confiscated items on drug buy-bust operations; he is sometimes utilized as security person of Mayor Garban of Municipality of Pitogo and Mayor Jun Babasa of Municipalty of Bayog; Further, investigation disclosed that during the incident there was a power interruption at the Municipality of Pitogo from 6:00 AM to 8:00 AM of same date. The initial focus of the investigation being considered by SITG “ORDANIZA” is his being a hardline radio commentator of Power 99 FM. He might have created enemies during his commentaries as revealed by his colleagues. Also to be considered is his involvement as active Media Representative during Illegal Drug Buy-bust operations of Pitogo MPS. SITG “ORDANIZA” will continue to pursue the solution of this incident in collaboration with other Law Enforcement Agencies.
