Stabbing Incident

Kristoffer Benavente Ombrete, personally came to this station and reported that a stabbing incident transpired at Purok 3, Brgy. Poblacion, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur at about 8:20 pm of June 17, 2016. Immediately thereafter, PNP elements of this station led by SPO2 Elso Singcay Mag-usara under the direct supervision of PCI HOMER TRAGICO DUMALAG, COP proceeded to the aforesaid place of incident to conduct ocular investigation. Initial investigation conducted that victim identified as JOHNNY DANLAG FUENTES alias “JUAN”, 38 years old, separated, carpenter and a resident of Purok 3, Brgy. Poblacion, Mahayag, Zamboanga del Sur was stabbed to death by the identified suspect JONATHAN MENDOZA NATUEL alias “JOJO”, 30 to 35 years old, separated, carpenter and also residing of the same place.

Investigation further revealed that prior to the stabbing incident at around 7:00pm same date the above-mentioned victim and suspect together with their neighbors namely: Jimboy Tambiling, Ronel Fajardo and Elmer Quintero were having drinking session (KULAFU WINE) at the small nipa hut outside the house owned by Jimboy Tambiling. According to the witnesses Jimboy, Ronel and Elmer at around 8:15pm same date while in the course of their drinking session, victim (alias Juan) and suspect (alias Jojo) engaged in a heated argument which resulted, the suspect to punch the victim three (3) times. Suspect was pacified by his brother Jay-jay Natuel but the suspect ran heading to his house and after two (2) minutes he came back carrying a bolo and without any apparent reason suspect attack, assault and stab then hack the victim several times. After the incident suspect fled heading to Purok 7 this municipality to evade arrest from the responding PNP.

The responding PNP team immediately conducted manhunt operation against the fleeing suspect but yielded negative result. While the victim was rushed to Mahayag Municipal Hospital by the responding PNP but the attending physician Dr. Nurhaina A. Abbas declared the victim dead on arrival. Victim sustained six (6) stab wounds and two (2) hack wounds on the different parts of his body which caused his instantaneous death. Motive of incident is previous personal grudge. This station is now preparing a case for MURDER against the suspect JONATHAN MENDOZA NATUEL alias “JOJO”.
