Shooting Incident
SOMINOT
- Shooting incident transpired at Purok 3, Barangay Barubuhan, Sominot,
Zamboanga Del Sur
at about
5:10 PM of aril 8, 2018. The victims were identified as Santiago Del Castillo
Miñosa, 58 years old, married, candidate for the coming barangay and SK elections
under PDP-LABAN, Rolando Villanueva Labad, 53 years old, married, former member
of CAFGU and presently working as casual employee of LGU Sominot and a resident
of Purok Irene, Barangay Polblacion, Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur, Enrico Sol
Estrada, 54 years old, lgu casual employee, married and a resident of Purok
Irene, Barangay Poblacion And Carlito Bolawin Murcia, 44 years old, LGU casual
employee, married and a resident of Purok Waling-Waling, Barangay Poblacion. Initial
investigation conducted disclosed that victims were all riding single
motorcycles running in convoy from Barangay Poblacion going to the house of Mr.
Miñoza, and upon reaching at the place of incident; suddenly an armed suspects
fired their assorted firearms aiming towards them. As a result, Rolando Labad sustained
multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body which causes his
untimely death. While Carlito Murcia sustained
one (1) gunshot wound on his right leg and were immediately rushed to the
hospital for medical treatment. Fortunately, Mr. Miñoza and Estrada were able
to run and hid in the bushes for safety and immediately call for police
assistance. right after the incident, suspects withdrew towards the area of
barangay waling-waling cave of Sitio Puting Bato, Barangay Upper Sicpao,
Sominot, Zamboanga Del Sur. Investigation further revealed that, according to
the statement of the survivors, they were able to identify the suspects
responsible but, they requested that the names of the suspects be included in
their respective sworn affidavits. responding team were able to recover
forty-two (42) fired cartridge cases, two (2) live ammunitions of Cal. 5.56 mm
(m-16) and two (2) fired cartridge cases of caliber .45 pistol from the crime
scene. Motive of incident is believed to be political rivalry. PNP elements of
Sominot MPS are now conducting hot pursuit operation for the apprehension of
the suspects. The investigator is Spo1 Samson L Eniola with CP # 09485386912.
Operation on Illegal Logging
JOSEFINA
- On or about 5:36 PM of April 08, 2018, PNP personnel Josefina MPS together
with the team from PENRO Zamboanga Del Sur conducted joint operation on illegal
logging at mini lumber yard own by Sonny Sumader located Barangay Dawa,
Josefina, Zamboanga Del Sur, that resulted in the confiscation of 102 pieces of
round timber logs which is equivalent to two thousand (2000) board feet more or
less in assorted dimensions of dipterocarpaceae (hardwood) species and kubota
mini sawmill machine. The said lumberyard has no permit presented. Confiscated
lumber and machine were properly documented by PENRO personnel and witnessed by
Barangay Captain Albertson Mag-Usara and now under the custody of PENRO for
proper disposition
Operation on Illegal Logging
KUMALARANG
- On or about 12:50 Pm of April 8, 2018, PNP team of Kumalarang MPS conducted
anti-illegal logging operation particularly at Purok- Saging, Barangay Sicade,
Kumalarang, Zamboanga Del Sur, that resulted in the confiscation of estimated
two hundred pieces of flitches (200 pcs) of woods (mahogany) with an estimated
of one thousand five hundred board feet and with an estimated market value of
thirty five thousand pesos (Php 35,000.00) with no identified owner. Said
confiscated flitches of mahogany woods were still at the area of operation
subject for hauling.
